Tuesday Gifts

My first drop yesterday was this stripey dress with white buttons. I balanced this on a new little ledge I'd found on the staircase

second I snuck this citrusy coloured geometric scarf into the changing rooms of Next on Bond Street. (This meant I had to try some clothes on at the same time, never a chore.)

Next this little dress in a tree, I'll have to go back and check the name of the street. Or if you found it and want to email me a picture, let me know where it was!

This sky blue and white patterned dress outside Yorkshire Bank, just near the Kath Kidston shop. I should have got a close up shot of the print on this dress really, it's very nice indeed.

Final one for the day - this veloury type blue top with a flower. I left this outside a pub...next to a bus stop....sort of near Primark on the other side of the road. I really must start noting down more precise locations!

Third Reply in Leeds!!

This evening, just hours after I did my drop in Leeds, I received this perfect pair of images from Shanna, who found my lacy bag by the traffic lights. It's been a slow few days for replies, and this was a wonderful surprise when I logged into my email account. Thank you Shanna and your Cat!

In it's loving new home, and it already has a second admirer :)

Thanks!

Monday 16th May in Leeds

Today's first drop - a lacy bag with circular wooden handles. Hooked onto a railing outside the big Leeds indoor market. In the second picture you can just about see it poking out from behind the traffic light post.

Next this soft floral button-down shirt, in the Victoria Quarter, outside All Saints. As I was leaving I saw a security guard looking at the shirt and speaking into his radio.

This dark brown leather bag with golden detail on the front and pop fastener. I left this outside the Corn Exchange.

This red envelope clutch bag, outside Optical Express on Briggate.

Finally I left this delicate pearl coloured petticoat inside the Woolgather exhibition. I hadn't planned to leave anything in the show today, but it was so windy as I was wandering around looking for a place for this last garment, that I decided it was safer to bring it indoors, lest it should blow into a muddy puddle and be swept up by the bin men before anyone had had the chance to appreciate it.

Just after I'd hung up the skirt, a very sweet couple came down from upstairs where they'd been looking at my photos in the exhibition. We chatted a while about my project, and the girl confessed that she was very much a petticoat lover, so naturally it was fate that she should take the pearl beauty away with her. Her boyfriend also happened to be a vintage fashion photographer extraordinaire, so there could be a magical photo on the way soon!

it As fate would have it,

A pair of scarves

This afternoon I came back into the exhibition to collect some clothes for distributing, for the first time since last Weds. Just as I arrived I heard two girls talking about my project, so I jumped in and asked them if they'd both like to choose something from my stock upstairs.

In a way I was cheating, the whole point is a kind of anonymous encounter with an object, but then again these are slightly different circumstances. I was saying to someone the other day that carrying out the project from the base point of the Woolgather exhibition is a bit like lab conditions...for example when I leave something in the show itself I can come back and ask John or Annie or Chris what kind of reaction there was. It was interesting to step in myself and have direct contact in the handover process for once.

Here are the two lovely girls with their scarves.

This is Kirsty

And this is Vicky.

(I wanted to make sure I got their names right for the blog, so in fail safe tradition I wrote on my hand)

So I asked the girls to take photos of the scarves in whatever their new context might be. One slight issue, I gave them the blog address but not my email address, so Kirsty and Vicky if you see this, my email address is withlovefromtheartist@gmail.com, get in touch!

I'm off out into the windy afternoon now to drop some clothes in the traditional way.

Knitwear Wednesday

Feeling a bit sleepy and under the weather today, I decided to leave my trio of woolly gifts in and around the Woolgather exhibition itself.

First off a dark yellow cardigan with black buttons, hidden in an empty changing room at the back of the show downstairs

Next this red and white knitted waistcoat, I ventured just outside the exhibition and hung it in a nearby tree.

Last I left this purple jumper with floral detail on the door to the exhibition.

Tuesday Drops

I went for skirts and blouses today. Here goes.

This pink top in the pretty beer garden of a pub whose name I can't remember.

This silky stripey shirt on the bannisters outside the Henry Moore Institute. It was quite windy and I saw a girl go up to the shirt just after I left, hopefully she rescued it from blowing away!

Next this red floral skirt in a tree at Millenium Square.

Finally I left this skirt hanging in the Woolgather exhibition

Come on Leeds, keep these responses coming!

Yellow Skirt Journies On

Today I received my second reply in Leeds, from the yellow skirt I left outside Ace. There was a twist to this one, the emailer, Oliver, told me:

"We found your skirt, we moved it. Then we watched people study it out of the window, Finally someone took it."

Let's see if any more feedback arrives in my inbox from the skirt's travels.
